Factory Technical Manager, Lincolnshire, Up to £60k

A fantastic challenging opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join a fresh produce manufacturer based in Lincolnshire. The company pride themselves on their modern approach to manufacturing, supplying all the major retailers including Tesco and Waitrose.
The Role
The Factory Technical Manager is a key member of the site management team, whose primary focus is to coordinate the activities of the Fresh Site Quality Managers (and Technical Manager at the Prepared site) in such a way as to ensure that food safety and legality is improved, leading to consistent Blue PIU, AA++BRC and 5* POD ratings are routinely achieved in customer and third-party audits.
It is essential that the Factory Technical Manager has a broad knowledge and skills base which allows scope to optimise product packing to ensure customer satisfaction whilst focusing on commercial considerations and the need to maximise company profitability.
- Ensure that factory output complies with all legal and customer requirements
- Manage the QA team by leading by example. Demonstrate that attention to detail is critical for the successful supply of both fresh and prepared products. Focus on building the skills and product knowledge within the operational area.
- Maintain and review the site hazard analysis (HACCP) programme and quality management system (QMS).
- Strong relationships with each site Technical and hold them to account by conducting routine unannounced audits to all standards (TPPS, TFMS, Wr POD, BRCv7)
- Ensure systems and procedures are in place to improve food safety and legality.
- Implement into all factory areas the standards by which the company operates and seek to raise them continuously.
- To progressively standardise the Fresh Site’s Quality Manuals such that we have a one business approach.
- Ensure key staff in the company are fully aware of standard (especially as they evolve) and that corrective actions are put in place.
- Conduct horizon scanning to ensure the business is aware of potential future threats and challenges.
- Manage every aspect of the supplier approval process from initial consideration, to site audits and evaluation for suitability. The process must involve a risk based assessment plus ongoing monitoring of performance against agreed KPI, e.g. delivery on time, in full and to the correct specification.
- Ensure that customer Technical Managers receive regular performance updates as scheduled together with prompt notification of significant exceptions/OOS events and the necessary corrective action plan.
- Ensure that all areas of the technical library are current. This includes finished product specifications, audit and visit reports, responding to all alerts, prompt response to any routine surveillance OOS results, etc.
- Any other reasonable duties requested by your Manager.
